AFGHANISTAN – First Lt. Andrew Yacovone and First Lt. Justin Wright met on their first day of infantry basic training for officers in 2014.
What drew them together? They both loved music.
"I called out to the crowd and asked if anyone played guitar," Andrew tells ABC News. "Lo and behold, Justin was standing right next to me and he was like, 'Heck yeah, I play guitar!'"
That meeting led to an all-night music session and the release of their first song "Hometown Hero," on YouTube. And yes, they were still in Afghanistan.

For Memorial Day 2016, Interstate 10, as the duo now calls themselves, has a new song and video out, "I'm Gonna Miss You," which is dedicated to military families of fallen servicemen.

Andrew began writing the song before he met Justin. And now their second deployment has them 40 miles apart. But they've used Skype to get it finished.
They have a message for everyone this Memorial Day: "Memorial Day is about remembering the ones we lost and supporting their loved ones. It's about celebrating the lives they lived. Thanking them for allowing us the opportunity to come home safe, and most of all, thanking them for a second chance to hug our loved ones."
Their deployments are scheduled to end soon, so the pair will be reuniting at Bagram Airfield in the next few weeks.
